In one corner, the challenger: carpet. Soft, fluffy, pretty, and expensive to replace. In the other corner, the reigning champion: sisal. Rough, rugged, and priced at just 19.95 dollars a metre.
We put both materials to the test using a trained scratching panel of 12 cats. Carpet lasted three weeks. Sisal lasted nine months. The panel’s comments on carpet included ‘nice’ and ‘bland’. Comments on sisal included ‘oh yes’ and ‘again’. The winner, friends, is obvious, and he is wearing a very shiny tie and standing right here. We invite the carpet industry to respond, and we expect they will, in a very quiet voice.
